Greek and Fiona 2

After I left Gunner’s condo, I hit up my new love interest, Cruz and told him that I wanted to see him. He asked me to pull up on him at his crib, and I gladly agreed. I couldn’t believe that I was going to give up a good thing to continue playing games with Gunner. He swore to change, but I doubted a nigga like him ever would. Between the cheating and verbal and physical abuse, I had finally had enough. Finally, after five years, I was walking away from my comfort zone and into unknown territory.

Speaking of territory, Cruz lived in a single-family home out in Sandy Springs, Georgia. When I pulled into his driveway, he opened the front door. This was my first time coming over. Though his house was decent, I don’t know why I expected him to have a much bigger, fancier pad. He drove a $250,000 car, and the home couldn’t have been worth more than $140,000. It just didn’t add up.

As I climbed out my car, I told myself I was overthinking. “Hey,” I waved.

“Estás preciosa. Come here. Gimme a hug, sexy.”

I walked up to Cruz and wrapped my arms around his neck and he embraced me. “You squeezing me like you missed me,” I teased before pecking him on the lips.

“Anytime you ain’t around I’m missing you.”

Cruz stepped to the side and allowed me entrance. I was stumped to find that his crib was hardly furnished.

“Did you just move here?” I asked him.

“Yeah, a few months ago. I be so busy. I haven’t gotten around to furniture shopping. Maybe that’s something we can do together,” he said before slapping my ass. “You wanna drink?”

“Yeah, that’d be cool.”

“Light or dark.”

Cruz went to the kitchen and poured us shots while I admired his place.

“You live here alone?” I asked.

“Of course, bay. I don’t do the roommate thing, unless it’s with my woman. Why? You wanna live with me?”

“You’d need a lot more furniture before I could call this place home,” I laughed.

Cruz walked out and handed me a drink.

I took a sip and paused. “I have a confession,” I suddenly said.

“Wassup, mamí. Talk to me.”

“Well…Earlier today I bumped into my ex at the mall. To make a long story short, he ended up proposing to me, and buying an engagement ring. I accepted it…”

“I’m not done,” I quickly said. “Anyway, after he gave me the ring, I thought about everything we’d been through. All the lies he told, all the bullshit he put me through, and the year in prison I served. I don’t wanna put myself through that again. I refuse to be unhappy, you know? I can’t live my life like that,” I told him. “So I decided that I wasn’t gonna go through with it. I realized I didn’t want to be with him, Cruz... I wanna be with you.”

Cruz hesitated with a response. “Well…that was…uh…quite some confession,” he laughed.

I was disappointed that he didn’t have more to say.

“So you don’t wanna be with me?” I asked with an attitude. Now I felt foolish for even coming over.

“No, no. I’m not saying that. Of course, I wanna be wit’chu, Tyler. Stop puttin’ words in my mouth. Don’t do that.”

“Then say something.”

“What do you want me to say?”

“I shouldn’t have to tell you, Cruz.”

“Look, I’d rather not blow smoke,” he said. “How ‘bout I just show you…” Grabbing me by the hand, he led me through the barren house, to the bedroom. Thankfully, that space was fully furnished.

After guiding me to the California king size bed, he gently pulled me down onto the mattress with him.

“All that fussing you doing. You know I want’cho ass. I don’t even know why you tripping.”

“You know why,” I pouted.

He chuckled and kissed me. “You right. I do know why. It’s ‘cuz yo’ ass spoiled.”

“And who’s fault is that?” I smiled.

“I guess mine. We gon’ have to do something about that.” Cruz flipped me over on my back and climbed between my legs.

I’d left out the part that I was still carrying Gunner’s baby. But that was the last thing on my mind after he pulled my jeans off.

Out of nowhere, I began to feel lightheaded and dizzy. I’d only taken a sip of the liquor so I didn’t know why it was making me drowsy. All of a sudden, the possibility of my drink being spiked came to mind.

Before I could confront his ass, everything went fuzzy and then completely black.
